Rebecca enjoys the intellectually stimulating nature of her practice and devising solutions to challenges faced by her clients. She likes the way each client engagement poses a peculiar set of legal and commercial challenges, and relishes the opportunity this gives her to learn about new industries and forge new relationships.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

Rebecca provides governance and regulatory compliance advice to local and multinational clients.  Her work has involved the review, overhaul and design of governance and compliance frameworks for local and multinational entities; conduct of forensic investigations into the activities of corporate bodies particularly where there are allegations of fraud or corruption and advising on potential risk exposures; and regulatory interface with law enforcement agencies or other governmental bodies on behalf of clients undergoing regulatory or government investigations.

Rebecca also provides general and sector-specific legal advice on matters such as: entity registration, corporate and tax structures, taxation, regulatory compliance for specialized sectors, foreign exchange regime, immigration, employment and labour relations, winding up etc.

In 2017 – 2018, she was closely involved in business environment reforms through her work with the Enabling Business Environment Secretariat of the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council, a think tank set up by the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari to improve the Nigerian business environment. She worked with the Corporate Affairs Commission to improve its processes and service delivery levels. She was also an integral part of the team that worked with the Nigerian federal and state judiciaries to import global best judicial practices as regards courts structure, case management, court automation and alternative dispute resolution into their operations. The Lagos State Small Claims Courts were commissioned in April 2018 as a result of the teams’ work with the Lagos State judiciary. She was also an integral part of the team that drafted and reviewed the Companies and Allied Matters Act Bill 2018 and other business environment ameliorating legislation.
