- National Committee on the Reform and Harmonisation of Arbitration & ADR Laws
Mr. Babatunde Fagbohunlu was recently appointed Secretary to the National Committee on the Reform and Harmonisation of Arbitration & ADR Laws. The objectives of the Committee are to review Nigeria’s laws on arbitration and other ADR mechanisms with a view to proposing necessary reforms; to bring the laws in line with modern trends, and to perform such other acts as are necessary for the realisation of the objective of giving Nigeria a modern law and procedure on alternative disputes resolution. The Committee is presently preparing a draft Federal Arbitration & Conciliation Bill.

Mr. Gbenga Oyebode was a member of the panel on "Agricultural and Rural Development" at the Eighth Annual Africa Business Conference organised by the Africa Business Club of Harvard Business School on the 18th of February, 2006. Issues discussed by the panel include the optimal structure of agriculture in Africa; innovative strategies for working with small holder farms; the goal of agriculture – self sufficiency or exports; opportunities for capturing greater elements of the value chain within the industry and so on.

- 13th Annual Wharton Africa Business Forum
Mr. Gbenga Oyebode was a member of the panel on "Entrepreneurship & Leadership" at the 13th Annual Wharton Business Forum organised by the Wharton Africa Business Forum at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. The Forum took place at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, on the 19th of November, 2005. Over 30 speakers including CEO's, policy makers and academics participated in the Forum. The objective of the panel on Entrepreneurship & Leadership was to present each panellist’s individual experiences with entrepreneurship and leadership in Africa, including challenges faced, successes, and overall insights on the African business environment and to discuss entrepreneurial opportunities and challenges within the current African economic environment.

- West Africa: Ecowas Declares Support for Bauxite Mining At Kibi-Atiwa - Minister
THE MINISTER of Regional Cooperation and NEPAD, Dr. Konadu Apraku, has said that the Economic Community Of West African States (ECOWAS) has recommended that member states should jointly undertake the processing of the huge bauxite deposits in Kibi-Atewa and Nyinahin to supply raw materials for the Aluminum Smelting factory in Tema (VALCO) and the Aluminum Smelting Company at Ikot-Abasi, in Nigeria.

The Federal Government and oil workers' unions have reached an agreement to privatise the nation's four refineries. The pact may have successfully nipped in the bud, a planned nationwide strike by oil workers to protest the sale of the ailing plants.
