Adebowale Aluko



Adebowale specialises in commercial litigation and arbitration, with particular expertise in energy disputes and banking matters. He has acted on behalf of clients in a number of complex cases at the High Court and appellate courts including:

  • acted for one of the major oil multinationals in an International Chamber of Commerce arbitration which arose out of an alleged breach of a multimillion-dollar gas processing agreement with an indigenous gas processing firm
  • acting for a European oil multinational in an appeal lodged at the Supreme Court against a decision of the Court of Appeal upholding the enforcement of an alleged net profit interest agreement with respect to the nation’s largest oil fields
  • acted for one of the leading multinational brewers in a multibillion-naira ad hoc arbitration arising out of a dispute related to the performance of a contract canning agreement
  • acting for a multinational consulting firm in a multibillion-naira dispute in a suit brought by a construction firm at the Federal High Court for unlawful interference with the road construction contract in respect of one of the most important interstate highways in the country
  • successfully resisted a winding-up petition that had been filed against one of the largest multinational brewers to enforce an arbitral award obtained against it at the Federal High Court, Lagos
