Aluko & Oyebode will be partnering with Sterling Bank, Sterling One Foundation, Flutterwave, Wema Bank, Chapel Hill Denham and Ouida Books to launch the maiden edition of its poetry competition themed “Nigeria Of Our Dreams” on Friday, 19th November 2021.
The aim of this competition is to restore dialogue between poetry and the arts, including theatre, dance and music while encouraging young minds to develop artistry, and to discover budding talent in the literary space.
Speaking on this laudable initiative, Sumbo Akintola, partner at Aluko & Oyebode stated, “As Nigeria continues to gain immeasurable grounds in the literary space with many Nigerian authors gaining recognition globally, it is imperative that the private sector steps in to create a platform that will promote the art of poetry recitation and reward aspiring poets. As a Firm, we are proud to be a contributor in the literary space”.
Ten Secondary Schools will be competing for the top prize, namely: Aunty Ayo International School, Lagos; Chrisland High School, Abuja; Divine Infinity College, Lagos; Dowen College, Lagos; Federal Government College, Port Harcourt; Government Science Secondary School, Abuja; Holy Child College, Lagos; King’s College Lagos; Queens’ College, Lagos and Wahab Folawiyo Senior High School, Lagos.
Our judges include the renowned Nigerian Poet, Efe Paul Azino; Kanyinsola Adepoju (Senior Associate, Investor Relation and Corporate Development at Flutterwave) and Oladimeji Ojo (Senior Associate at Aluko & Oyebode).
