TRADEMARK REGISTRY NEWS: Publication of Recent Journals for Online Applications

The Nigerian Trademarks, Patents and Designs registry has published 4 more new Trademarks Journals, dated 24 April, 2018. Three (3) of the published Journals are for online applications, while 1 is for manual applications.

There has earlier been publication of 6 Trademarks Journals, dated 30 January, 2018 for online applications – Vol. 1 No. 1 – 6. This brings to record total of 10 Journals in more or less first quarter of 2018. This is no doubt a welcome trend in our registry’s practice. Opponents will have 2 months from 24 April, 2018 to file opposition applications.

NAFDAC: Minister of Health Inaugurates NAFDAC Governing Council

The Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole has inaugurated the Governing Council of the National Agency Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).

The Minister while inaugurating the board charged them to provide robust and purposeful transformation of the health sector in Nigeria. The Chairman of NAFDAC Governing Council, Hon. Inuwa Abdulkadir pledged the desire of members to discharge their duties with trust and accountability. He promised greater synergy and collaborative effort by all stakeholders which according to him will make the work of regulation and enforcement easier.

Also speaking, the Director-General of NAFDAC, Prof. Moji Adeyeye appealed to the council to intervene in the issue of the suspension of the Agency from the Ports as such action is counter-productive while observing that the rising epidemic of the use and abuse of narcotic substances by the youth, could be traced to this gap.
