INTRODUCTION
On 7th April, 2015, the President of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria (‘NIC’) made 2 (two) subsidiary instruments with commencement dates of 6th April, 2015, pursuant to the provisions of Sections 254C(3), and 254F(1) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999[1], to wit:
- NIC Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Centre Instrument, 2015; and
- NIC Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Centre Rules, 2015
The subsidiary instruments are aimed at providing a regulatory and procedural frame-work towards the promotion of Mediation and/or Conciliation among parties, in the amicable settlement of matters commenced at the NIC. A brief analysis of the aforesaid statutory instruments is made below.
