The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has published the Draft Information Memorandum (IM) for its upcoming auction of the remaining lots of 2 x 100MHz in the 3.5GHz spectrum band to support 5G deployment in Nigeria.
To support the attainment of its objective of reliable communications services and innovative digital technologies, the draft IM provides much needed guidance to prospective entrants on the auction process. The draft IM also defines the process for licensing of the remaining lots in the 3.5 GHz Spectrum band by the NCC and provides information on the Nigerian communications market, details of the Spectrum on offer, the prequalification process, and an indicative timetable.
According to the draft IM, the minimum price for each lot for a ten (10) year licence tenure is fixed at Two Hundred and Seventy-Three Million and Six Hundred Thousand United States Dollars only (US$273,600,000.00), however this may be subject to changes before the draft is finalised.
The NCC has invited stakeholders and interested parties to review and comment on the draft IM before the final document is published. Interested participants are required to make their submissions in printed or electronic format summarizing the salient points of their concerns and recommendations within 21 days from the publication of the IM. All submissions can be sent via email to spectrumauction@ncc.gov.ng or should be addressed to:
