MAR 2019 NEWS REGINALD UDOM AND FUNMILAYO OTSEMOBOR

The National Housing Fund (Establishment) Bill (the “Bill”) 2018, passed by both houses of the National Assembly, was on 18 February 2019 transmitted to the Office of the President for Presidential Assent. The Bill, if signed into law, will repeal and replace the extant National Housing Fund (Establishment) Act Cap N45 Laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 2004 (“NHF Act”).

The NHF Act established the National Housing Fund (the “Fund”) with a mandate to mobilise funds for the provision of housing for Nigerians at affordable prices. The Bill seeks to provide for additional sources of funding for effective financing of housing development in Nigeria.
